The box was a disaster upon arrival. To the drivers credit, he didn't want to take
it off the truck until I gave it a thorough inspection, which I did. There was

My husband ordered me the “Big John” workbench to do my crafts on which
include tin punching, wood carving and some painting. He has been deployed
for 15 months out of these past two years which unfortunately made him miss
two of our wedding anniversaries, so he thought this would be the perfect gift
for me and it sure is!

John, if you've ever ordered anything on line, you know that the ITEM YOU'VE
ORDERED typically falls short of your expectations but............... "OH MY GOD",
THAT BENCH WE ORDERED FROM YOU, not only MEETS our expectations, it
EXCEEDS OUR EXPECTATIONS. IT IS NOTHING SHORT OF A MAGNIFICENT WORK
OF ART.   WORDS JUST CAN'T EXPRESS AND INDEED WOULD FALL SHORT IN
DESCRIBING YOUR CRAFTSMANSHIP AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL.

(JUST THOUGHT I'D SHARE) The shipment arrived on Thursday, late in the
afternoon. Chuck had to work all day on Friday, and late into the evening.

On Saturday, he awoke early and went to work straight away on assembly. Once
he was to a point where the bench had to be turned upright, he asked me to call
my son over to our house to assist in lifting the bench. My son only lives a few
miles away so...Chuck only had to wait a few minutes for him to arrive, (thank
god).

My son assisted Chuck in lifting the bench he then did his guy ooh's and aah's
thing and left, (in my heart I know that my son will never be allowed to touch the
bench again).

Once the bench was assembled, Chuck and I stood back in awe. (Composing
this, I'm still in awe).

We spent Sunday,...... taking turns staring at the bench and....... staring at it
together.

I DON'T WANT CHUCK TO MESS IT UP WITH HIS BULLETS AND THINGS AND HIS
POWDER AND THOSE UGLY TOOLS THAT STAY ON THE BENCH AND HANG OFF
THE SIDES . THAT STUFF THAT IS USED FOR BULLET MAKING HAS NO PLACE ON
THAT BENCH. AND........TRUTH BE TOLD, I DON'T THINK THAT CHUCK, WANTS TO
MESS IT UP EITHER.

Greetings John!
I just received my workbench last night (and wow, shipping was fast!) and I fully
assembled it. I ordered the 30 x 60 Constitution model, and could not be any
more pleased with it. Despite a few very, very minor installation flaws (the lower
shelf pre - drilled holes were slightly off) this is an absolutely fine product. The
pride you all take in your work shows.

I was a little concerned about the side splashes interfering with the mounting of
a machinist bench vise, but they are short enough to allow the vise to swivel
right over them. The engravings were so detailed, I can't believe that the
individual eagle feathers could actually be seen, or the rope braids and
continents on the Eagle, Globe and Anchor that was carved. I simply don't have
the words to describe how well made this is.

I just wanted to say thank you, and that I look forward to doing business with you
in the future. Also, it is always great to see a company dedicated to American
products and materials.

Hi John. Yes my new table arrived in good condition. One of the side panels of
the shelf was separated at the corner joint, but i was able to reconnect with a
finishing nail. The table is assembled, placed in its permanent resting place, and
breathing comfortably. I'm sure the table will provide many many years of

Hi John:

Thanks for the follow up. Yes, I am very happy with my Constitution! It arrived in
great shape & a friend and I were able to put it together quite easily. I've
included a photo to show it all decked out. The only problem I've encountered is
that the butcher block top is JUST TOO NICE to drill holes into, so I mounted the
presses onto plywood - works just as well & I can keep the work surface pristine.

John, thanks for the generous discount, re: the finish color error! I think most
companies would have grudgingly given me about 10% off & just said "oops". It
shows me that American Workbench stands behind it's products. I've
recommended you to a couple of my reloading buddies who have drooled over
my Constitution & who, like me, are tired of the particle board & sheet metal
'things' being sold today.

Anyway John, thanks again - another satisfied customer. I hope you folks didn't
get any effects from that earthquake, something we in California know all too

I've been meaning to get back to you. Assembly was delayed by family issues,
but I finally got it together. Beautiful piece of furniture! We're going to use it
indoors as an "activity" bench for some of our hobbies, including gun
maintenance. Logistics worked fine -- arrived on time and w/o damage. I did
have a chance to unpack it right away, so finish had opportunity to air for quite a
while. Not anytime soon, but I'll eventually want to get one to use as a
workbench for a tractor storage and equipment maintenance barn I'm planning.
I'll be in touch at that time.

HI John,

I wanted to give you a follow up. I received my work bench in good condition.
One box was damaged but there was only the slightest of a scratch. It's hardly
noticeable and my husband will be able to fix it with out any problem.

UPS was great to work with on delivering my bench and the driver was awesome
to deal with in allowing me the time to open the box and examine the contents.

As for the bench, I cannot say enough of just how much I love it.
The craftsmanship that went into my bench is very evident. It is beautiful and

Yes, my workbench arrived in good condition and is already in my workshop,
hard at work as intended. It is great! Several friends have already drooled on or
near it!!!

It replaced my old beloved bench which I had to leave behind when we moved to
The Raleigh, NC area last year. It was just too big and heavy to move!
After putting my new one into use I found that I really needed my woodworker's
vise installed so I made some modifications to accommodate it.

I have no doubt that the bench will see much use as the center of my workshop
activities from now on.

my 6 foot "Constitution" (30" x 72") reloading bench is absolutely WONDERFUL.

Everything arrived just fine, I helped the driver put it on the ground, (very easy)
and I have a cheap dolly and I just wheeled the two cartons into my garage. The
setup went quick and easy. I think it took longer to un package the unit and
dispose of all the packing material than it did to assemble it, at least it seemed
that way.

I'm still piece mealing my reloading room together with all TOP NOTCH
equipment. I have both Dillon and Hornady progressive reloading presses along
with single stage presses from Hornady and a Redding Big Boss II. The addition
of all the related equipment, from cleaners, both ultrasonic and vibrators to
balance beam scales, powder charge system, electronic scales, brass trimmer,
and all the reloading supply components and manuals makes for a really great
setup.

I look forward to spending many, many retirement hours at the bench.

My 6 foot "Constitution" reloading bench from American Workbench is truly the
CENTERPIECE of my setup.

mine and me. The bench is very strong, rugged and adding the extra shelf was a “Great Idea”. I think
it will last as long as my Dillon 550B reloading press that was mounted on it last weekend.

Absolutely loving the bench. As you can see, it makes an excellent desk. The
splash makes a perfect built-in bookshelf. Also, the slight bull nose on the front
edge of the butcher block makes it very comfortable to work a computer
keyboard. I have to tell you, nothing else I looked at comes even close to fitting
in like your reload bench. And the wife approves, too!

Also, your packing is as industrial as the bench. And the ratchet clamp is a nice
addition to my tool rack -- thanks for that.
Thanks for an excellent solution. I think you should advertise the product not
just as a workbench, but as a comfortable office desk with massive character. I

Hey John
I was right, now that all the good-looking "bits" are assembled they have turned
into a bench nothing short of mastery in your craft. Not even a "dink" here and
there to make me feel more comfortable about inflicting signs of usage! : - )

Perhaps now I can do something for you and as a consequence, your future
customers too.

As I stood in the garage with my wife this morning admiring your product (not to
mention getting high on the aroma of new wood) and discussing where I was
going to locate / install various reloading components, it dawned on me that
some knowledge that would have been real useful when deciding the
dimensions of bench to buy, would have been a photograph of a practical
example.

I propose to provide to you - for your consideration and use or discard - a high
quality photograph sequence of perhaps 2 pictures (front and side), showing the
equipment installed (that's at least 3 weeks away), overlaid with dimensions. At 5'
10" I'm probably around average hight and I seem to have chosen bench
dimensions which will ideally suit me and the equipment of choice.

From the images customers could make allowances for their differences in
height and operating height of their reload equipment of choice to, potentially,
end up with their own perfectly sized bench.

It's just an idea from a purchasers viewpoint and of course you are perfectly at
liberty to discard the idea out of hand or, wait and see what kind of mess I make
of it???????

I should have got back to you much earlier than this. Life (and death)
sometimes
gets in the way of doing day to day things on my agenda.

The workbench arrived in perfect condition and has found itself a happy place in
a
beautiful spot in our tongue and groove cedar tack room of our retirement home
right now. It adds so much to an already wonderful room. I scored many points

giving this bench to my husband! However, he thinks it is much too beautiful to
use it. Ha! We are in the process of building a shop at our retirement property

Hi John,

I am happy to report that the beautiful workbench arrived yesterday around 2:00
PM. The man who delivered it was really sweet, and stayed to help me open it.
Everything was included and there was only one small ding on the bottom of the
bottom shelf that I can easily smooth out. I did not put it on the report. I gave the
man some cookies and he was really happy as he was hungry.

Anyway, it all turned out fine. And the vise came later on the afternoon. I now
have
all that need to put the workbench together. But it is SO cold out there, I will wait
for it to warm up a bit. This is the coldest it has been yet this year!

The bench arrived in fine shape. Well packed and delivered. I put it together in
about 2 hours...not bad for me who is so particular. Love the bench and the
inscription and "sloop" came out perfectly.
I can see why your BBB rating is "A". With all your other chores there you always

Dear John,

My workbench was delivered by an 18 wheeler rig. He delivered the workbench
without any difficulties. I signed for the package and we had a short cordial
chat. After the driver left, I immediately opened the box. Everything was in mint
condition. The table top is beautiful. I'll put it together this coming weekend. I
like all the lettering and thestenciled icthus fish. It's gorgeous. When I showed
everything to my girlfriend she was elated to the point of almost being
speechless. That's saying a mouth full
because my girl friend is intelligent with an expansive vocabulary. My our Lord
Jesus continue to anoint your hands to build wonderful workbenches. Your
business has a unique niche. You build a
hybrid type bench. One that's for common use as a workbench and at the same
time can be used as a wood workers bench. What a niche especially for the
price.
As you know, wood workers benches are very expensive.

Thanks again for the beautiful work. One of my first projects could possible be
to make myself a long bow.
I hope to stay in touch with you. You've been a blessing to me. I've already told
many of my friends about my workbench and also that you are a Christian. I have
a friend thatvisited your website because I told him that you make a reloading

Saturday.    It is fantastic! What a well made and well thought out product. It will
last a lifetime. I notice you have a fly tying bench a swell. I may order this from
you in a few months. Let me know if you run any specials. However, you will
need to get a trout carving and get rid of that bass!

Hi John:
About 2 minutes after we got off the phone yesterday UPS Freight came by with
the Shipment of Workbenches. We put the Service desk and one bench
together. They look spectacular and really make the shop. They are the exact
touch I was looking for. I plan on ordering more for the shop next
door to keep the theme going. We've already had compliments from visitors to
the shop, and all of the crew think they are amazing. We have one mechanic who
now has his own bench and is soenthusiastic about his new workspace.

My bench arrived last week and I am thrilled!

For your FYI, the box looked perfect but the bench was damaged. The shelf was
cracked. I repaired the shelf and assembled the bench! It looks great!

I just thought you should know that for future customers! I remember your
warning about signing for damaged goods, and I can honestly tell you looking at
the package you would never guess the amount of damage to the bench! Just
trying to help you guys out with info, I am not complaining.

I finally was able to get back to carving and the table you made for me is not only
attractive but is also much easier on my back. The layout of the table is perfect

How are you? You probably won't even remember me unless its as "That weird

who ordered the bench and then never opened it...." Anyway, Its been a pretty
hard spell for me where I was forced to change jobs twice and move both times...
But I never ended up with a place where I could set up my shop and unpack my
bench... Until now. You can see from the email thread...That was April of 2008 so
its been almost a year.
This weekend I unpacked everything and assembled the bench... Its beautiful,
strong and sturdy and I'm thrilled I asked you to put the vice on it as that's really

Yes I received my Plantation Workbench and it is outstanding! I ended up going
to UPS Freight here in Cincinnati area to pick it up myself on Monday afternoon.
UPS was fairly backlogged with all the severe winter storms that have passed
through in the last week.
Anyway as I mentioned the Plantation Workbench is outstanding; it’s even more
than I was expecting! The quality and craftsmanship are impressive!
You do great work and I can tell you take tremendous pride in creating such a
perfect and practical workbench!

As I joked in my last e-mail, my wife was so impressed she was ready to order
some baskets from “The Pottery Barn” and put the workbench inside the house.
Like many folks mentioned I’m hesitant to put that first “ding” in it.
I know I will get many, many years of use out of such a solid and durable
workbench. I’ll attempt to re-send a message with photos later today.

The entire order finally arrived yesterday, and assembly this morning went
smooth.
The benches look great! And you were right, we are very pleased. The
workmanship is wonderful, and your secure packing was also fabulous. I was
upset DHL took so long to get all the pieces to me, separating 3 boxes from the 2
table tops, and delivering them 4 days later, but I give them credit for not
trashing the pieces. Too many other
"freight" companies have little regard for items they move.
